About the Trainer

Laurel Leland  was trained by Jan Fennell, the world-renowned Dog Listener and holds an Advanced Certification in Canine Communication from Jan's training program in Great Britain.  

After working for 25 years in the mental health field as a licensed psychologist, Laurel decided to transfer her understanding of interpersonal communications and behavioral interactions of humans beings to the animal kingdom.  

Laurel's devotion to humanistic, person-centered psychology and her love of our "canine companions" was a natural fit for Jan Fennell's approach called Amichien Bonding © .   

Amichien Bonding is not a quick-fix training method but rather a holistic, natural, stress-free way of communicating with your dog.  It is a life style and ongoing process between you and your dog where your dog will recognize you as leader, thus changing its behavior of its own free will.  Through years of research and personal experience, Jan developed a genius for understanding and communicating with animals.  Dogs respond to her almost immediately.  Laurel will teach you what you need to know to have your dog responding to you in similar ways.     

Dogs are pack animals and need a leader they can trust.  If no leader is recognized, the dog will chose itself to be leader.  Problem behaviors are symptoms of the dog being uncapable of leading in a human world they don't understand.  Having a human leader removes the dog's stress, allowing it to relax, thus eliminating problematic behavior.    
Laurel's consultations take place at the owner's home so the owner and the dog will feel safe, relaxed, and behave naturally.  Consultations last 2-4 hours.  During the consultation a complete understanding of the dog's behavior is provided along with an action plan for resolving the  dog's problems.  Backup services are provided for the life of the dog, for no extra cost.
